As the nights start to draw in and the shops are filling up with new season stock, it’s time for me to share a few autumnal updates – my favourite ideas for you this season.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that I don’t ‘do’ fashion per se. Instead I notice what’s current and what will be flattering for different people in terms of their personal style, colouring and body shape.

Blindly following fashion might be fun, but it can be disastrous (and bloomin’ harsh on the purse).

Being more considered about which of the new fashions works specifically for you and adding a few new pieces to your collection each year, means that you are more likely to LOVE what you wear and not waste your money.

SO, here are my favourite fresh ideas for autumn. Remember they won’t ALL work for you. Pick the ones that do and go and have a try on.

Velvet

This sumptuous fabric is playing a BIG part in the new season’s offerings. Luxurious, comfortable and versatile, velvet is an easy way to add some glamour to your wardrobe this month.

Embroidery

This is a fun trend, just beware of how you wear it. Strictly one piece at a time unless you are a 20 something year-old fashionista (in which case, this blog most definitely isn’t for you).

Winter florals

With a darker background colour, winter florals are edgier and look great with boots.

Do leave me a comment, I’d love to know which trend you’re going to try. I’m off to buy some velvet…..
